“When I saw the headline Teach English and learn Arabic in Palestine I applied on the spot. I
knew, that I would have an awesome time there if I join the program. My dream came true: I had
an amazing time in the holy land. I was teaching English to 12 to 19-year-old Palestinians three
days a week and I had 3 Arabic lessons per week.
I learned a lot about teaching but my job was challenging. I became serious about learning
Arabic only one year ago, so it was hard to communicate with beginners of English. However, I
found my limited knowledge of Arabic extremely helpful in the classroom. In the Arabic lessons
I was taught Palestinian Arabic by my teacher Rim. Her lessons were extremely helpful for everyday communication. On my free days, I was able to visit cities near Hebron, like Jerusalem and
Bethlehem. In Hebron, I stayed in a cute little guesthouse where I met other volunteers from
Europe. In conclusion, I would say that the programs offered by La Casa are not the cheapest
option but my month here was one of the most exciting times of my life.”
